Join world-renowned Chef Rick Bayless for a magical culinary experience under the festive twinkling market lights and olive trees in the Garden at Rancho Valencia. Chef Bayless, whose iconic restaurants Frontera Grill and Topolobampo in Chicago elevated Mexican cuisine in the USA to new heights, will create a delectable, plated, multi-course dinner with the bounty of the highest quality locally-sourced ingredients from land and sea. The feast will be paired in perfect harmony with Rick’s favorite Mexican wines by Lomita and Finca La Carrodilla wineries from Valle de Guadalupe, Baja California. 

As special guest, and considered by Bayless to be the most talented cook in Baja of her generation, Chef Sheyla Alvarado of Lunario Restaurant in Valle de Guadalupe will collaborate with the American master of Mexican cuisine. On the winemaking side, we are honored to have critically-acclaimed winemaker extraordinaire Gustavo Gonzalez in attendance, who in his 17 years at Robert Mondavi Winery in Napa Valley earned the title of head winemaker and established their Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon as one of the leading wines in the world, consistently receiving Wine Spectator ratings of 95+ points. This extraordinary star-studded evening will also feature the mastermind behind the estate grown wines produced by the family-owned boutique wineries Lomita and Finca La Carrodilla, proprietor Fernando Perez Castro, who led both oenological ventures to becoming the leaders in organic viticulture and premium wines in Mexico.
Last but not least, an outstanding culinary experience deserves a world-class entertainment act. We are privileged to announce that “One of the Nation’s Most Innovative Trumpeters”, San Diego Music Awards six-time “Best Jazz Artist” & “Artist of the Year 2013”, musician, composer, curator, educator and arranger Gilbert Castellanos will be performing the most important and influential popular songs and jazz standards of The Great American Songbook in a trio configuration.
