Fitness Instructor
Jason DeVries

Jason DeVries joined Rancho Valencia’s fitness as a certified Spinning Instructor in 2018. He is an avid cyclist, both on the road and mountain bike. He wants you to push you like you are on a group ride with friends, bring a competitive spirit, but have fun and listen to great music along the way. He wants everyone to feel welcomed in his class from first timers to the veterans of spin class.
Jason has a B.S in Biology/Biotechnology from Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan where he was four-year athlete in Track and Field competing in the decathlon and pole vault. After competing in the DIII National Championships in the pole vault in 2002, he turned to cycling and has never looked back. He became a San Diego Bicycle Club ride leader upon moving to California and has ridden the great climbs of the Tour de France and follows all the bike races in Europe.
Beyond cycling he enjoys golf, snowboarding, wakeboarding, soccer, basketball, hiking, tennis. He has even competed multiple times in the barefoot waterskiing figure-8 national championships at an event called Footstock in Crandon, Wisconsin. When not teaching class or riding his bike, he enjoys cooking challenges given to him by his partner, Jen, and sailing with her in San Diego harbor or around the world.
